Education
We have been surprisingly busy, despite the stop, start effects of Covid. Bookings have increased and we have been able to manage more programmes supporting education, with back to work courses with Weston College and ESOL language courses from Bristol City Council. 'Learning Communities' have now started on their 'sewing to sell 'course here. Young People and Older residents 'Japan Arts' Judo holds sessions for all ages on Wednesday evenings and The St. Mary Redcliffe Youth Group runs weekly on a Monday. We have been able to continue to help with Women's issues supporting Next Link and ACE activities and our Older Peoples activities look set to restart with a replacement for the Lunch club (watch this space !) Christmas Past At Christmas we held a Tree Lighting in the Square and welcomed the Lord Mayor to turn on the lights! We toasted marshmallows and chestnuts and listened to carols on the saxophone. We also accommodated some seasonal Children's activity days in the hall. Meanwhile our Arts and Crafts Group were busy building scenery for our Christmas Story walk, which took local families through the wardrobe into Narnia and to see Father Christmas for a present. So what of 2022? The Foodbank Volunteers meet every Wednesday and have found ourselves busier than ever since Christmas. We have some wonderful Volunteers and Donors alike . We meet on Wednesday from 11 am- 2pm. If you know of anyone who needs help please ring : North Bristol Foodbank Hotline : 0808 2082138 for friendly advice and help. There are lots more ideas in the pipeline, with our usual ( and unusual! ) list of seasonal events and activities, to help keep us together as a community. So why not come and see what you can get involved in? Its good to see the criss-cross of people attending more than one activity here. When people from a Foodbank join an arts and crafts group and help with scenery making for the Children's Christmas walk through we really can see community in action. Lets see what else we can do in 2022! |
